Baker Merz is a specialist construction law practice built by engineers, quantity surveyors and project managers who later qualified as lawyers. We are the only law firm in Australia regulated by both the Queensland Law Society and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Adjudication Support — Security of Payment (BIFA)
Our Principal, Albert Merolla, is a registered QBCC adjudicator under the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act. We regularly prepare and respond to payment claims and payment schedules, and represent clients through adjudication. Because we developed and administered projects ourselves, we prepare the technical, programming and quantum analysis in-house rather than briefing external experts.
We also act on:

Delay, disruption, variation and quantum claims (including CPM schedule analysis)
Construction contract review, drafting and risk allocation
QBCC, QCAT and court disputes
Contract administration support on live projects

Our team brings more than 30 years of first-hand experience on major Australian and international projects before practising law.
