This Privacy Policy explains how FindAttorneys.org, an independent online legal information blog and lawyer directory operated by Mike T (“we,” “us”), collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use FindAttorneys.org (the “Site”), including our articles, attorney directory, user accounts, and listing services. We are based in Columbus, Ohio, United States.

We are not a law firm. Information you send us is not protected by attorney-client privilege. Please do not send us confidential details about a legal matter.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account registration and login: username, email address, password (stored in hashed form by WordPress), and any profile details you add.
  • Directory listings: information firms submit for a listing, such as firm name, description, practice areas, attorney names, languages, service areas, address, phone number, website, email, business hours, payment methods accepted, education, years of experience, awards, social media profiles, logos, and photos. Most of this is published on the Site.
  • Payments: if you buy a paid service, such as a featured listing, we collect billing details needed to complete the purchase. Payments are processed by PayPal: card details are entered with and processed by PayPal, and we do not receive or store full card numbers. PayPal’s use of your information is governed by its own privacy policy.
  • Messages to listed firms: the contact form on a listing collects your name, email, phone number, and message, and sends them to the firm that owns the listing. A copy of the message is also stored on the Site. Once the firm receives your message, its use is governed by that firm’s own privacy practices.
  • Reviews and ratings: if you review a listing, we collect your name, email address, review title, rating, and review text. Your name, rating, and review are published. Your email address is not published.
  • Abuse reports: if you report a listing, we collect the message you send.
  • Emails to us: if you email us (for example, to submit an article or a listing, or to ask a question), we receive your email address and whatever you include.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs: like most websites, our web server records IP address, browser type, pages requested, referring page, and date and time. The Site is hosted by Namecheap.
  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Site. It uses cookies and similar technology to collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location (derived from IP address), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the Site.
  • Security: we use Google reCAPTCHA v3 on login, registration, listing submission, listing contact, and abuse-report forms to block spam and abuse. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sends it to Google.
  • Directory interactions: our directory software records some activity on listings, such as views and clicks to reveal a phone number. These records may be associated with your IP address, device or browser, or your account if you are logged in.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive information, such as health, criminal-history, or immigration details, and we ask you not to send it to us. Our directory search uses an AI search feature. When you use it, the text you type is sent to an outside AI service provider to process the search, so please do not include personal or confidential details in your search.
