Michigan Court Registry

Description

Michigan court records are maintained by individual courts within the Michigan court system across different jurisdictions in the state. Guaranteed by the State’s Freedom of Information Act (Public Act 442 of 1976), the public may request to inspect or copy Michigan court records from the custodians; the clerks of each court. Depending on the court where the case was filed, a requestor may consider one of the following ways to find the required court records in Michigan:

  • Visit the Clerk of Court’s Office at the courthouse where the action was filed, to request a view of the paper copies of the court records
  • Determine the contact details of the Clerk of Court of the courthouse where the action was filed, to request copies of a court record by mail under the FOIA policy
  • Visit the website of the court where the action was filed to use the search engine to view electronic court records
