Description
Upon settling in, I strolled over to the La Brea Tar Pits, a cluster of tar pits located near Hancock Park. For thousands of years, this region has been seeing the gradual accumulation of asphalt from the earth. The tar kept the imprisoned animals’ bones from decaying for ages. Without paying for the museum, you may simply stroll around and see the tar pits. Research into the tar pits and the presentation of exhibits from the animals that perished there, including numerous Ice Age creatures, are the main focuses of the George C. Page Museum. You can pay $12 or use your Go Los Angeles card to access the museum. But my 5-day pass didn’t begin until the very next day.

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is very next to the Tar Pits. On Wilshire Boulevard, close to Miracle Mile, you’ll find this museum of art. There are almost 150,000 pieces of art from all periods of history on display, making it the biggest art museum in the western US. The museum hosts film and concert events in addition to art exhibits. Costing $25, you can enter the event.
As we traveled by bus from Santa Monica to Malibu along the Pacific Coast Highway, I marveled at the mansions that lined the shoreline of the wealthy coastal towns we passed. The tour took place at the homes of several famous people, including: Cher, Adam Chandler, Jennifer Anniston, Courtney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Beckham, Paris Hilton, Jim Carrey, and Leonardo DiCaprio, among many others. Keep in mind that these are only their holiday homes and not meant for anything fancy. The hilltop mansions of celebrities like Cher, Ellen, and David Beckham were more appealing to me than the beachside mansions. The tour returned to the Santa Monica Pier after a duration of around two hours.
